PPDB Board meeting

Welcome & meeting called to order by Sue Shaffer at 7:35pm

Approval of the December 14, 2015 minutes 1st motion Saneeka, 2nd the motion Shelley. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Shelley Lill will send

Sue will inquire about recording our conference calls via West our conference hosting line.
Shelley sent Sue the contact information and Sue will find out what’s the fee for recording.  

Committee Updates:

• Membership- none
• Outreach:  Western part of PA didn’t seem to be interested in an Outreach event (probably weather related). The South hills part of the state got together for breakfast with the families. 
• Bylaws: (See attached updated bylaws) Sue will spend more time going through the bylaws again to ensure everything is up to date. 
• Grant:  Sue/Jackie/Juli - none
• Nominations:  Sue and Jackie will handle nomination on the next call. Patti McGowan is nominating Tammy Kitterman. Jackie, Juli, Shelley, and Gabe are up for re-election for this year. Patti, Sue, and Saneeka’s terms are up next year. Sue and Patti’s terms are ending and they are not available for re-election to their current board positions. Sue will give Saneeka the information to send out the email about the board members slated for re-election.  

 
Business Updates:

• Advocacy Day, March 2nd Capitol Hill:  Shelley Lill:  Scott and Shelley Lill will represent PA, PPDB and NFADB-  Board reminder to send letters or one page descriptions by 2/20/16. The Lill’s are meeting with the education consultant for the Senators Toomey and Casey, Congressman Thompson.  

 

• FLC PA Deaf-Blind Project   June 24 & 25, 2016 (new venue see attached flier) Shelley reported on behalf of Patti. Dr. Susan M. Bashinski will be the speaker and she has come highly recommended. In order for the Project to pay for the second night of FLC, there has to be some type of learning/networking activity after the dinner hour (our social is not allowed for Saturday night, must be a learning session).

• General Membership Meeting will be held March 7, 2016 at 7:30pm.
